Join Penfolds Global Ambassador Jamie Sach, and the State Library of South Australia’s Community Engagement Librarian Carolyn Spooner, in conversation with wine, food and lifestyle journalist journalist Tony Love, as they discuss the history and heritage of Penfolds and the broader South Australian wine story.
From their beginning in 1844 to today, the merging of science, art and innovation has driven Penfolds to become one of Australia’s most famed and respected winemakers. The State Library of South Australia’s collection of wine-related materials can be traced back to 1834. With thousands of items including books, pamphlets, wine labels, menus, company records and more, it is now the largest collection in the southern hemisphere, if not the world. Join us for an intimate evening celebrating the history and heritage of Penfolds and South Australia’s internationally renowned wine industry.
Jamie Sach is the Global Ambassador for Penfolds. An established member of the Penfolds family, Jamie first joined the winery in 1999, when he was appointed Sommelier at Magill Estate Restaurant. Upon completing his studies in 2004, Jamie was appointed to the role of Penfolds Ambassador – a cross-functional role which capitalised on his extensive knowledge of the winery’s portfolio. His experience in tasting and assessing Grange since first arriving at Penfolds, makes him one of the world’s foremost experts on the subject. In 2013, Jamie became the Global Ambassador for Penfolds, leading an international team of educators and advocates to continue sharing the heritage, history and wines of Penfolds the world over.
