As Philip Payton is unfortunately unavailable, Council Member Lyn O’Grady has kindly agreed to step in with a talk on two of Adelaide’s historic buildings.

An illustrated presentation on two mansions, two brothers and subsequent significant owners. 

WILLIAM AUSTIN HORN was at the right place at the right time when copper was discovered at Moonta. This was the foundation of the family’s future as stockbrokers, vignerons, and politicians.

THOMAS SUTHERLAND HORN joined the Northern Territory Survey Expedition under Goyder in 1869, became a member of the family firm of stockbrokers and a Member of Parliament.

Lyn O’Grady, a member of HSSA Council, historian & Secretary of Historic Ketch Falie Inc and hon. historian for Walkerville district, enjoys sharing the rich history of Walkerville which was established in 1838.
